Chad Merrell

Earned in the Trenches, Not the Classroom

Chad's leadership perspective wasn't built in a classroom. It was earned running high-stakes operations, leading organizations through change, and walking through his own seasons of failure and redemption.

That combination is why Chad doesn't consult from theory. He's carried the weight of a P&L, led a congregation through real change, and had the hard conversations most people avoid, and he brings that same clarity to every leader he works with.

A Different Kind of Leadership Consultant

Most consultants come from one world. Chad has lived in three, and that combination shapes everything about how he works.

The Marketplace

15+ Years in Operations

Leading operations, productivity, and organizational improvement in the corporate world.

The Church

15+ Years in Ministry

Leading churches through growth, change, discipleship, and multiplication.

The Coaching Room

Walking Alongside Leaders

Guiding leaders navigating complexity, transition, and uncertainty.

That combination creates a rare perspective: the ability to understand both systems and people. It's not a footnote to Chad's story. It's the advantage at the center of it.

Chad's Story

Chad spent sixteen years leading manufacturing and distribution operations, eventually directing teams of more than thirty people and operating budgets approaching $40 million. It was a season that taught him how to see systems clearly: how the right adjustment in the right place can change everything downstream.

Then his path shifted. In 2009, a season of reckoning led him into recovery ministry. Leaders in the church he attended began to see something in Chad that the church needed: a redemption story and a set of leadership gifts ready to be put to use. Over the next two years, he taught and facilitated small groups, discipled groups of businessmen, spoke at men's retreats, and served as a lay pastor in the church's recovery ministry. That growing sense of calling became full-time in 2011, when he joined the church's executive leadership team and was called to launch its multisite ministry. From there, Chad served in senior leadership at churches ranging from 200 to 2,500 members, planted and pastored a church of his own, and led church-planting and multiplication initiatives, helping congregations move from attractional models to cultures built on disciple-making and church planting. In 2018, he became Lead Pastor and Executive Director of North Rock Hill Church. He and his wife Tanisha moved to Rock Hill, SC that year, where they and their daughter Ava still reside. Their other children, Christopher, Carrington, Madeline, and Kendal, are grown: three daughters and their husbands live in South Carolina, and their son lives in northeast Louisiana. As Chad puts it: God has done amazing things to make them a family, and to keep them one.

In 2014, Chad began to be invited into consulting and coaching relationships, where his operational discipline and pastoral discernment come together to help kingdom-minded leaders name reality correctly and see the potential where they used to only see problems.

Outside the Office

When Chad isn't coaching leaders or in the pulpit, you'll usually find him working out, hunting, fishing, or hiking, often with family in tow, and always with LSU football on somewhere in the background. He's an unapologetic Tigers fan and, by his own admission, an all-around sports nut.
